Air Suspension Is an Option, Not a Trim Level
This one surprises people, so it is worth being blunt about it. Air Glide Suspension is not what you get by buying the most expensive Aviator. Lincoln Aviator Black Label leaves the factory on the same Adaptive Suspension as an Aviator Premiere unless somebody checked the Dynamic Handling Package box when the vehicle was ordered.

The practical result is that two Aviators sitting side by side on the same lot, same trim, same color, can ride differently. That is a good reason to call us at 931-632-4844 before you drive over, or to check the build detail on the listing in new Aviator inventory.

What Air Glide Suspension Changes
Air Glide replaces the conventional springs with dual chamber air springs, which lets the vehicle change its own ride height rather than sitting at one fixed height for its whole life. Three things follow from that.
Dynamic Lower Entry
The Aviator lowers itself when you approach and when you park, so the step in and out is shorter. If anyone in your household has a knee that argues with tall SUVs, this is the feature that matters, not the massage seats.
Height that follows the drive mode
Ride height changes with the Lincoln Drive Mode you select, so the vehicle settles closer to the road at highway speed and lifts when the surface calls for it. It is a small change you feel most on a long run rather than around town.
A softer edge over bad pavement
Air springs take the sharpness out of the hits that a steel spring passes through. On the stretch of I-24 between Clarksville and Nashville, where the concrete panels have a rhythm to them, that is where you notice it.
Before You Spend the Money
Adaptive Suspension Is Not the Consolation Prize
The standard setup on every Aviator reads the road ahead and adjusts the dampers continuously, including pothole mitigation that firms a damper before a wheel drops into a hole rather than after. It is the same system underneath whether or not the air springs are fitted.
So the honest framing is this. Air Glide is an upgrade to a suspension that is already good, and what it mainly buys you is the entry height and the last layer of ride polish. Two questions decide it:
- Does anyone who will ride in this vehicle struggle with the step up into an SUV? If yes, Dynamic Lower Entry is worth the package on its own.
- Is most of your driving long highway miles rather than errands across Clarksville? If yes, you will feel the difference often enough to justify it.

Aviator Suspension Questions
Does the Lincoln Aviator have air suspension?
It can, but not as standard equipment on any trim. Every Aviator comes with Adaptive Suspension. Air Glide Suspension is part of the Dynamic Handling Package, which is offered on Aviator Reserve and Lincoln Aviator Black Label.
Does the Lincoln Aviator Black Label come with air suspension?
Not automatically. Lincoln Aviator Black Label makes a lot of Reserve's options standard, including the 30-way Perfect Position front seats and the 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D Audio System, but Air Glide Suspension still arrives through the Dynamic Handling Package. A Black Label without that package rides on Adaptive Suspension.
Does the Aviator Premiere offer air suspension?
No. The Premiere's only listed option package is the Jet Appearance Package, which changes the wheels and exterior finish. If air springs are what you want, the search starts at Reserve.
What is Air Glide Suspension?
It is Lincoln's dual chamber air spring system. It lets the Aviator change its own ride height, lowers the vehicle for easier entry and exit through Dynamic Lower Entry, and adjusts height according to the Lincoln Drive Mode you have selected.
What is the difference between Adaptive Suspension and Air Glide Suspension?
Adaptive Suspension controls how firm the dampers are, moment to moment, and includes pothole mitigation. Air Glide adds air springs on top of that, which is what makes the ride height adjustable. Adaptive is standard on every Aviator. Air Glide is the option.
Is the Dynamic Handling Package worth it?
It depends on two things. If someone who rides with you finds the step into an SUV difficult, Dynamic Lower Entry earns the package by itself. If your driving is mostly long highway runs, you will feel the ride difference regularly. For short trips around town, the standard Adaptive Suspension is already a good ride.
How do I tell whether a specific Aviator has Air Glide Suspension?
The window sticker lists the Dynamic Handling Package by name, and a vehicle that has it will lower itself when you shut it off and walk away. Simplest route: call us at 931-632-4844 with the stock number and we will check the build for you.
